This OFSTED Outstanding school are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join them from January for the duration of the academic year with a view to gain a permanent contract directly with the school.
The school is based in the Hammersmith borough of London so transport links are excellent. You will be working with a group of 5-8 pupil’s, secondary aged all with complex needs The group will be mixed ability, with some high level ASD needs as well, being a quite a complex group they need someone who is familiar with a positive behaviour approach and experience with complex needs pupils. As all the pupils have PMLD a willingness to engage in personal care support is essential to this role. This is a full time role Monday to Friday with working hours of 9am- 3.30pm.
What is required in the role:
Working closely with parents and reporting back on pupils progress
Preparing the classroom ready for the school day
Working with children on a 1:1 basis as well as in small groups
Providing personal care
Observing children’s behaviour
DBS on the update system or willing to apply
Available full time
Previous PMLD or high SEND needs experience
Positive attitude towards learning
Children with PMLD will have more than one disability, this could mean they may have trouble with the following: communication, hearing and visual impairments, physical disabilities, and mental health difficulties. Many individuals with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties rely on different ways to communicate this though PECS and/or Makaton so experience in these is preferable but not essential as you will be trained whilst on the job.
The school is OFSTED rated outstanding and resides in the Hammersmith & Fulham borough. It is a day school for pupils aged 2-19 years and have served the community for a number of years.
