      Are you currently an SEN Teacher who is looking for a new challenge?

      Vision Teaching is working with Primary and Secondary SEN schools in the London Borough of Hackney, who are seeking strong SEN teachers to join their team. The schools in question cater for students with wide range of needs to start in September with the light of going perm.

      Core purpose of the role:

      To work as part of a committed, enthusiastic and happy team focused on teaching the pupils. You will have particular responsibility to develop, deliver, support and monitor the curriculum. You will ensure the pupils within our Secondary Department are engaged and excited about their learning.

      Duties and Responsibilities

      Programme Management – Secular Curriculum

      1. In close liaison with the Headteacher, you will have the responsibility to design and monitor the Secular Curriculum for our Key Stage 3 to 5 pupils. You will be creative and innovative to ensure the programmes remain relevant and exciting.
      2. Ensure the curriculum offers a broad range of experiences across the different curricular subjects and life skills.
      3. To plan, prepare and deliver a range of lessons and evaluate these activities to inform future learning. You will develop your programmes in line with the National Curriculum, specified accredited programmes and our Jewish Studies curriculum and ensure we meet the diverse needs and interests of each child.
      1. Maintain and develop the pupil’s access to Nationally Accredited Programmes. g. ASDAN Employability, Youth Awards and Transition Challenge.
      2. Numeracy and Literacy – Clear framework and programmes of study to ensure all the pupils have the opportunities to make progress and achieve.
      3. Work Experience – In liaison with the 14 – 19 Lead ensure the pupils are prepared for and attend appropriate work experience placements. This may include linking into a relevant ASDAN accredited programme.


      1. Work with staff to ensure that there are effective planning, delivery and evaluation systems.
      2. To monitor the pupil progress based on observation, evaluation and interaction, in order to monitor and track their progress and as a tool for planning and assessment (Assessment for Learning).
      3. Support staff to assess the pupils work
      4. Ensure IEPs are reviewed regularly.
      5. Where appropriate, pupil behaviour programmes in place working in liaison with the SENCO and Headteacher
      6. Accredited Programmes – Under the direction and support of the 14 – 19 lead, you will ensure standards are being maintained to achieve formal accreditation.
      7. Contribute to the preparation of the Annual Review.


      1. To behave in a warm, friendly yet professional manner towards colleagues, children and parents.
      2. To share responsibility with colleagues for the general upkeep of the classroom, to include care of resources and equipment and to encourage the children to do the same.
      3. To share responsibility for presentation of the children’s work and for compilation of interest areas and displays.
      4. To attend and participate in meetings as required.
      5. To participate in Inset for professional development to keep informed of current childcare legislation and practice.
      6. To ensure that all the Health and Safety policies are followed.
      7. To contribute to and support the schools’ ethos.
      8. To uphold all the school’s policies, procedures and ethos.
