Vision Teaching are currently working with a very organised, well established and forward thinking SEN school in Islington. This OFSTED Good school are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join them as soon as possible for the duration of the academic year with a view to gain a permanent contract directly with the school.
The school is based in the Islington borough of London so transport links are excellent. You will be working with a group of 5-8 pupils in year 6/7, all of whom have multiple learning difficulties. The group will be mixed ability, with some high level ASD needs as well. The school has kindly asked for someone who is familiar with a positive behavioural approach and experience with complex needs pupils.
This is a full time role working Monday to Friday with working hours of 8.30am- 3.30pm. What is required in the role: -Working closely with parents and reporting back on pupils progress -Preparing the classroom ready for the school day -Working with children on a 1:1 basis as well as in small groups -Providing personal care -Observing children’s behaviour Essential requirements: -DBS on the update system or willing to apply -Available full time
Children with SEN/MLD will have more than one disability, this could mean they may have trouble with the following: communication, hearing and visual impairments, physical disabilities, and mental health difficulties. Many individuals with Multiple Learning Difficulties rely on different ways to communicate this though PECS and/or Makaton so experience in these is preferable but not essential as you will be trained.
